I Don't Like the Numbers
The number evacuated, the number who stayed behind, the number leaving the Helldome, convention center and airport, the number picked up off rooftops, etc... There just aren't enough people who got out. The NOLA Missing Persons thread is over 20,000 posts. I'm dreading the next few weeks.

My figures (done in my head, without benefit of guacamole) were more like 10,000-12,000. But I was never that good at math.
I hope we're both wrong and that many more got out that we just don't know about.
Houston hotels alone were full the day the hurricane hit. That's over 50,000 rooms. Many actually DID leave as requested.
I pray that the vast majority of people posting on NOLA will be reunited with their families, friends and neighbors, safe and sound. I pray that 10-12K turns out to be way too high. Dare we hope the number turns out to be in the hundreds, after all?
Hey I just hovered over your name linked on the right and your pic popped up! If I messed discussion on this sorry, I'm a bit slow! Great picture! :-)
Grace: Nope, I didn't advertise my "Easter eggs." :) But be sure to hover over the link to your blog...
Wow, that is neat Phil! Are you sharing your secret?
On the other note, I've heard thousands didn't make it. But the brighter side is that many just haven't been able to contact eachother. One of our friends parents live in Biloxi, his dad was out of town when the storm hit and they couldn't find his mom for days but thankfully she finally turned up unharmed. I feel awful for them all. They also keep showing people's pets stranded on the news. Every shot of an animal I've seen was of them leaving them to fend for themselves. Some clinging to trees, others stuck on roofs. That just breaks my heart too.
Bossco: I'm so glad your friend's mom is okay. I pray there will be thousands more stories like that. The stories of small children separated from their parents while boarding buses are just awful.
Re the Easter eggs: I found some code online at this site. All it took was a page of stylesheet code, 12 pages of javascript code, quite a bit of tweaking the links, and specifying a particular version of HTML in the meta tags.
Wow, you've been busy, looks great! And ALL it took was 12 sheets of .js etc, etc??!! :-)
Grace: Yeah, I just type the javascript off the top of my head, and it always works just fine. LOL
Trust me, it was a straight copy and paste of the (duly acknowledged) code I found. :)
Ha ha, I'm the same, copy and paste then wonder how it works! It just sounded SO impressive! lol :-)
Yes Phil the next few weeks are scary. I am glad that God is in charge because otherwise we are screwed.
